HURRICANES BREEZE PAST WELWYN
The Hurricanes made it two wins from two after another impressive performance and comfortable win over Welwyn A.
The boys dominated the first half, displaying great teamwork, passing and movement and deservedly led 2-0 at the break. Sam K scored the first, tapping in from close-range after good work on the left from William S. William then doubled Hitchin’s lead, racing away from the Welwyn defence and giving the keeper no chance with a firm shot into the right-hand corner.
Welwyn offered more of an attacking threat in the second half but Hitchin continued to look threatening and, but for some good goalkeeping, desperate defending and the woodwork could have scored a hatful. Sam K scored his second goal to make it 3-0 with a smart volley after Sam Hart headed down a Joel corner. Sam Hart then stretched the lead further, controlling a long pass out of defence from Patrick and calmly rolling the ball past the keeper, into the net. Welwyn grabbed a late consolation with a very impressive goal, an unstoppable far-post volley after a good run and right-wing cross.
Overall, a straightforward win for a team that is improving with each week and looks set to have a very successful season. Sam Hen looked very secure in goal and Patrick and Max worked well together in defence. William S and Kane dominated midfield and Jonathan had an impressive game on the right-wing. The two Sams and Joel will cause problems for many defences this season and combine very well together.
Man of the match – William S – a powerhouse in midfield and a very well-taken goal.
Squad – Sam Hen, Patrick, Max, Kane, William, Jonathan, Joel, Sam Hart, Sam K
