Hitchin Hurricanes 4 St Neots A 1
Royston Crow League, 8th November 2008

The Hurricanes resumed where they’d left off before the half-term break with a convincing win over a previously unbeaten St Neots side.

They raced into a two-goal lead within the first five minutes. After good work by Kane, a short pass from William freed Sam Hart and his shot gave the keeper no chance. A cartwheel celebration – not easy on a greasy surface – was almost as impressive as his finish! It was 2-0 minutes later - William bundled the ball home from close-range from a Sam corner for a much-deserved first goal of the season. St Neots quickly pulled a goal back and it was 2-1 at the break.

Hitchin dominated the second half from start-to-finish and it was only some good work from the St Neots keeper that stopped them from increasing their lead. At 2-1, St Neots looked dangerous on the break but Stephen, Patrick and keeper Ryan snuffed out any threats. Finally, with two minutes to go, Hitchin sealed the win when Vinay scored from another Sam corner and with the last kick of the game, William scored his second, a shot from the edge of the area after being set up by Vinay.

At times, the game was played in monsoon conditions but the boys played with commitment and composure and were deserved winners.

Team: Ryan, Kane, Patrick, Stephen, William, Vinay, Sam Hart
