The second game proved to be another tight affair with goal scoring opportunities at a premium. In the first half, Joel, Somerset and Sam worked hard up front to try and convert the half chances that came their way but to no avail.
In defence the boys definitely seemed to have taken on board the instructions of the Coaching Staff and worked hard as a team to preserve their recent excellent defensive record. Will showed he has a great engine, not only getting forward to assist the hard working Sam Hartnack but also in getting back to form a shield in front of the defensive duo.
Iain shuffled the pack at half time introducing James and Vinay but the pattern of the game remained the same as the first half with both substitutes having only half chances to try and break the deadlock.
The match remained a very close and tense encounter all the way to the final whistle and eventually it was the defences for both teams that came out on top. Hitchin’s defensive pairing of Max and Kane worked tirelessly to repel the Letchworth attacks and should be very proud of the part they played in keeping a clean sheet and leaving their goalkeeper Ryan with little to do.
Team: Ryan (gk), Kane, Max, Will, Somerset, Joel, Sam Hartnack. Subs: James, Vinay
