Hitchin Hurricanes 3 Knebworth A 0
Royston Crow League, 22nd November 2008

The Hornets completed a good morning for the U8s with a dominant performance and a convincing win over Knebworth A. Given the conditions, it was one of their best team performances of the season - the passing and movement was of a very high quality.

Kane put the Hornets in front midway through the first half. Joel swung a free kick in from the right touchline and Kane ghosted into the back post to slide the ball into the net.

Sam Hen handed the gloves to Ryan at half time and had a welcome run-out in the second half. After a period of Hitchin pressure, he doubled the Hurricanes lead with a low shot after Joel’s run and cross had been parried by the Knebworth keeper.  Like Jonathan, it was Sam’s first of the season.

Hitchin were now well on top and two minutes later were awarded a penalty after a handball by a Knebworth defender. Kane’s spot-kick was well struck but the Knebworth keeper leapt to his left to make a great save. It was 3–0 just before the end when Joel made a speedy break. His first shot was saved but he netted the rebound and treated the frozen crowd to a Robinho-style thumb-sucking celebration.

Great performances all round. Max and Patrick were rock-solid in defence. William and Kane totally bossed the midfield and Joel, Sam and Somerset ran Knebworth ragged . Well done, boys!

Team: Sam Hen, Patrick, Max, William, Kane, Joel, Somerset
