Hitchin Hornets 2 Knebworth B 6
Royston Crow League, 29th November 2008

Despite a rigorous warm up session with the coaching staff, the Hurricanes were caught cold with Hormead taking an early lead. The Hurricanes weathered the early storm and after Vinay danced down the left wing and centred for Somerset to coolly finish at the near post it looked as though it was going to be a close contest. However, despite some valiant defending from Oliver, Kai and Jonathan and some expert saves from Ryan the Hurricanes found themselves 1-4 down at half time.

In true Jose Mourinho fashion Peter decided to make a double substitution at half time and his gamble paid off almost immediately with Ryan (now playing on pitch with Kane in goal) making the score 2-4. Now it was all Hitchin and with renewed belief the boys poured forward with Ryan, James and Vinay all going close. The pressure on the Hormead defence was relentless and buoyed by the boys’ endeavour the crowd sensed that the comeback was on.  Despite having almost all the game in the second half the Hurricanes just couldn’t find the finishing touch their play deserved and they got caught on the counter attack twice to end the game losing 2-6
.
The Hornets should be proud of the part they played in one of the most entertaining games of the season.

Team: Ryan, Kai, Jonathan, James, Oliver, Vinay, Somerset
