Hitchin started brightly, but a few errors in a mad ten minute spell, and they were 3-0 down. They fought back with James and Jonathon battling in defence. Kai and Ollie put some hard tackles in in midfield, and William and Vinay made some good forward runs. Ryan produced some great saves in goal, and Hitchin's nervous start seemed to be behind them. This paid off when Vinay found himself through on the right, hit a first time shot, and scored. Frustratingly, Broxbourne scored again, almost immediately, to make the score 4-1. The Hornets kept fighting, and a good cross by Vinay found William free on the left post to score his third goal in as many games. With the score at 4-2 at half-time, the match looked keenly balanced. At the start of the second half Hitchin reshuffled, with Jonathan going in goal and Ryan coming out to play in midfield. However, mistakes returned to Hitchin's game. Broxbourne scored almost straight from the kick off. The Hornets battled back, but Broxbourne scored again. Perhaps the lack of subs was beginning to tell; the boys had run their hearts out. Jonathan made some good stops in goal and Kai and James fought hard in defence. Ollie and Ryan kept trying to find a way through the physical Broxbourne midfield, whilst William and Vinay tracked back to help bolster the Hornet's defence. This whole team rearguard limited forward opportunities, and with the Hornet's sting almost extinguished, Broxbourne scored again. The boys looked disappointed at the end of the game, but they can all be proud of how hard they fought. If they can eliminate the basic errors that peppered this game, their never say die spirit will win them many victories in the future.
Man of the Match – Olly - A difficult one as all the boys fought hard, but Olly's battling spirit represented the best of the Hornet's performance.
Team – Ryan, Jonathan, James, Olly, Kai, William A, Vinay
